Welcome to Niihaman Ulkomaja in Tampere – Your Place to Relax and Enjoy an Authentic Finnish Cottage Sauna!
Our sauna is located at Niihaman Ulkoilumaja in Tampere, by lake Niihamajärvi and along the scenic Kauppi outdoor trails, offering a peaceful setting for an authentic Finnish cottage sauna experience. Our traditional wood heated sauna is the perfect place to forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy soft steam baths in a relaxing atmosphere.
Private Sauna Session
Our sauna is available for private bookings, providing the perfect place to relax with friends, family, or colleagues. While the sauna comfortably accommodates up to 10 people at a time, larger groups can be accommodated by staggering sauna sessions.
Private sauna rental rates:
- 140 € / 2 hours
- 190 € / 3 hours
- 240 € / 4 hours
You can conveniently book your session through our online booking system at the bottom of this page and here you can also pre-select catering options for your group!
If you wish to book a sauna session outside of our regular operating hours, an additional charge of 80 € per hour applies. For such reservations, please contact us directly via email or phone.
Public Sauna Session
Our sauna is open for public sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 16:00 to 19:00. This is a great opportunity to enjoy the warmth of the sauna with the company of others. The public sauna is a mixed sauna and follows a swimsuit policy.
The public sauna session is 8 € per person. No reservation required – just show up and enjoy!
Swimming and Ice Swimming
A well-lit path leads directly from the sauna to the swimming area. You can take a refreshing dip in lake Niihamajärvi. Even during the winter ice swimming is possible. We provide the ideal setting to unwind and enjoy beauty of the nature, with convenient access all year round.
The Sauna Atmosphere & History
Our wood-heated cottage sauna is built with care, warmth and authenticity. The gentle heat and traditional ambiance provide the perfect place to leave your worries behind, relax, and enjoy meaningful conversations.
Niihaman Ulkoilumaja was originally a small farm, founded and built after the war by the Olkinuora family, who relocated from the Karelian Isthmus. The family cultivated the land here, and the sauna was once their private sauna. It has since been carefully renovated to preserve its original charm while meeting modern needs.

A terrace with beautiful views of the lodge courtyard and surrounding nature. Enjoy the fresh air before or after your sauna session and sip on a refreshing drink.
A changing room located in the sauna entrance, providing privacy to change before and after your session.
A shower inside the sauna for a refreshing rinse.
Sauna Pass – Collect Stamps!
We offer a Sauna Pass, where you collect a stamp for every sauna visit. After every ten visits, you receive a free sauna session! It's a great way to enjoy regular sauna experiences at an affordable price.

Booking & Reservations
You can make a booking through our online calendar or by contacting us directly. When booking, please select the desired location and any additional services. In the booking summary, include the number of participants and any dietary restrictions. Available time slots are indicated in the calendar.
The venue rental fee is paid at the time of booking, and any additional services are settled at our cash register upon arrival. If you prefer to pay the full amount on-site or need us to invoice you, please email us at riia@niihamanulkoilumaja.fi.
If you do not receive a booking confirmation via email, please contact us immediately.
When you arrive for your reserved time, please check in at our reception first – we'll provide you with further instructions and the keys to the facilities.
Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before your reserved time. For cancellations happening on the same day or no-shows, we reserve the right to charge 50% of the total service fee.
