Niihaman Ulkoilumaja is a part of outdoor tradition of Tampere – a place where nature, good food, and relaxation come together. Located just a short distance from Tampere city center along the Kauppi outdoor trail, we have long been a part of everyday life and celebrations for locals. We offer our guests unique experiences and warm, welcoming service.

Welcome to experience Niihaman Ulkoilumaja – a place of tradition and adventure in the heart of Tampere!
Niihaman Ulkoilumaja was originally a small farm built after the war by the Olkinuora family, who relocated from Kaukola in the Karelian Isthmus.
Since the 1980s, Niihama has operated as a privately run café, serving visitors enjoying the great outdoors. Many locals fondly remember skiing here as children to warm up with juice and a fresh donut—making Niihama an essential part of Tampere's culture and history.
Over the years, our services have expanded to meet the needs of outdoor enthusiasts all year round. Today, our visitors also include a variety of private groups and event bookings.
The current owner of Niihaman Ulkoilumaja is Riia Jokinen, who took over in early 2023.
